Free Licence
1. What this Schedule covers
1.1 This Schedule is the Free Licence. It incorporates the Data Terms and the Source Conditions Schedule, which rank as set out in clause 3 of the Data Terms.
1.2 It covers the Data we make available free of charge ("Free Data") through these channels:
(a) the free API tier, used with a free key, which gives the most recent fiscal year of every company;
(b) the public demo key (demo), a shared, rate-limited key for trying the API;
(c) the public sample CSV file;
(d) the Website's per-company data pages and per-company downloads; and
(e) the pit-fundamentals Python package, the pit-fundamentals-mcp server and any other client we publish, when used with a free key or the demo key.
1.3 Data delivered under a paid Licence is governed by that Licence's Schedule, and does not become Free Data when that Licence ends. This covers Data obtained with a key issued under it, by download from https://www.tradingagentapp.com/account/snapshots, by a copy to a storage location, and any other delivery under a Snapshot, Order Form or OEM Agreement, including Update Packs and corrected files. Free Data is only Data obtained through the channels in clause 1.2, or through a Research App plan or with a key issued for one, which is Free Data governed by this Schedule (Data Terms clause 1.3).
2. Who may use Free Data
2.1 Anyone aged 18 or over, individuals and organisations alike, anywhere except as clause 23 of the Data Terms prohibits.
2.2 Your Authorised Users are you and, if you are an organisation, your employees using Free Data only for you.
3. What you may do
3.1 Use Free Data to evaluate Trading Agent Data.
3.2 Use Free Data for Internal Use, including within a company.
3.3 Publish Aggregated Results you create from Free Data.
3.4 Publish Insubstantial Extracts of Free Data — for example quoting a company's figures in an article, a paper or a post — with the Attribution Notice for each market used (Source Conditions Schedule, clause 2.6).
3.5 Exercise any right you have under an open licence or at law in the underlying material (Data Terms clause 7.4). For New Zealand charities data this includes everything CC BY 3.0 NZ permits.
4. What you may not do
4.1 Redistribute Free Data, except Insubstantial Extracts under clause 3.4.
4.2 Download or harvest Free Data systematically — for example by looping over per-company downloads or data pages, rotating keys, accounts or IP addresses, or running the demo key in a production system — or in any way designed to assemble a copy of all or a substantial part of a market.
4.3 Use Free Data to build or improve a dataset, feed or data product that competes with Trading Agent Data.
4.4 Embed the demo key or your free key in software, websites or services used by other people. Running our own client packages unmodified is allowed.
4.5 Everything in clause 6 of the Data Terms also applies to Free Data.
5. Attribution
5.1 Keep the attribution that comes with Free Data (Data Terms clause 8; Source Conditions Schedule clause 2). The public sample CSV, per-company downloads and CSV responses from the API carry it in their final source_attribution column; keep that column in every copy of the file or, if you remove it, keep beside that copy an ATTRIBUTION.txt from https://www.tradingagentapp.com/api/v1/fundamentals/attribution for the markets and data dates it contains (Data Terms clause 8.2).
5.2 The public demo key does not receive entries marked "delete" in the Deletions Feed. If you hold Free Data, request a free key to receive them (Data Terms clause 11.2).
6. Limits, changes and ending
6.1 Rate limits. Free keys and the demo key are subject to the rate limits published in the Documentation. We may throttle or block traffic that exceeds them or looks automated in breach of clause 4.2.
6.2 No service level. The free service has no service level and no support commitment.
6.3 Changes. We may change, limit, suspend or withdraw any part of the free service — including what the free tier contains, the demo key, the sample file, per-company downloads, and the distribution of the Python package or MCP server — for a valid reason, such as cost, abuse, security, a change in the law or in Source Conditions, or a change to our paid tiers, with notice where practicable. We may change this Schedule by publishing a new Version at least 14 days before it takes effect (or sooner where the law or a Source Register requires it, under clause 27.3 of the Data Terms), and emailing free-key holders. A new Version applies to Free Data you obtain after it takes effect and, if you hold a free key, not earlier than 30 days after we email you. Free Data you obtained earlier stays under the Version in force when you obtained it, except for a change under clause 27.3 of the Data Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the free service, and clause 6.5(b) applies. Clause 27.2 of the Data Terms does not apply to the Free Licence.
6.4 Revoking keys. We may revoke a free key, or block access, for breach of this Schedule or the Data Terms, or to protect the service.
6.5 When the Free Licence ends. (a) If it ends because of your breach, clause 16.6 of the Data Terms applies: delete the Free Data within 30 days. (b) If it ends because we withdraw or change the free service, you may keep Free Data you already obtained lawfully and continue to use it under this Schedule, subject to clause 11 of the Data Terms (Deletions Feed).
7. Software
7.1 Our client software is open source under the licence stated in its repository (MIT at the date of this Version). That licence covers the code only. Data obtained through the software is licensed under this Schedule or the Schedule of the key used.
8. Liability and consumer rights
8.1 Free Data is provided "as is" (Data Terms clause 10.4), subject to clauses 17.1 and 19 of the Data Terms. Our total liability in connection with the Free Licence is limited to US$100 (Data Terms clause 17.3(c)), except as clause 19 of the Data Terms provides.
8.2 If you are a Consumer, or otherwise an individual not acting in trade, clauses 19 and 19.6 of the Data Terms apply, clause 18 (indemnity) does not, and clause 30.6 of the Data Terms decides whether clause 30.3 (arbitration) applies to you. If you obtained Free Data without requesting a key, or requested a key without ticking the separate business box, clauses 18, 19.2, 30.3 and 31.2 of the Data Terms do not apply to you (Data Terms clause 4.3).
9. Your information
9.1 When you request a free key we record your email address and usage, and handle them as clause 12.6 of the Data Terms describes. Our notice about this is at https://www.tradingagentapp.com/privacy#data-customers.
